LOS ANGELES, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- South Korean black comedy "Parasite" took home the Oscar for best original screenplay at the 92nd Academy Awards ceremony held at the Dolby Theatre here Sunday night.
The film, co-authored by its director Bong Joon-ho and writer Han Jin Won, last week won the best original screenplay at this year's Writers Guild of America Awards, the guild's top honor.
The class warfare thriller became the sixth foreign language film to win the Oscar for best original screenplay and is also the first South Korean-made film to win an Oscar.
Bong expressed his admiration for the actors who helped him "bring this film to life" as the movie made history.
"We never write to represent our countries, but this is the very first Oscar to South Korea," he said in his acceptance speech.
